About

The most important factor in determining if your therapy will be successful is finding the right connection between you and your counsellor

Hello, and a very warm welcome!

I would like to welcome you to my services at Empowering You Counselling. I have small private practice nestled in the beautiful Sunshine Coast Hinterland in Queensland. I understand that life can be overwhelming at times, and we all need support. I would like to acknowledge that starting counselling, or returning to counselling is an incredibly brave step. Stay brave!

Whether you are looking to restore balance to your life, need a safe space to explore your innermost thoughts and feelings, are experiencing bereavement, or are recovering from a traumatic experience, I will work collaboratively with you, and at your own pace. I will take the time to understand your needs and support you on your journey to reach your desired outcomes. I offer a safe, and non-judgmental counselling environment for you to explore deeply personal issues. All the while treating your life experiences that brought you to counselling with respect and dignity.

Together, we will explore ways to empower you, build personal strengths, develop new coping skills, and a path to a more fulfilled and peaceful life. It will be my absolute privilege to hear your story, and an honour to share your counselling journey with you. I look forward to beginning this journey when you are ready.

About me

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Counselling, and I am a member of the Australian Counselling Association. I am a holistic counsellor, which means my counselling practises support the mind, body and spirit interconnection. While all approaches used are steeped in evidence-based therapy. I have experience working with both adults and children.

I believe there is nothing more important, or powerful than the trusting and non-judgemental connection between counsellor and their client. From there, something magical happens.

In addition to this unique and safe connection, I believe that when you are supported and your needs are truly understood, you can begin to rebuild your life, in your way, using your strengths and making your own decisions about your life. Decisions that empower you!

My Story

What lead me to becoming a counsellor?

Like most of us, I too have struggled with my own mental health. I grew up on a large beef cattle farm, where I experienced first-hand the struggles of farming life - droughts, debt, and the destruction that brings to marriages, family life, and the impact it has on an individual's mental health.

At the time, whilst I could see and understand the destruction around me, I felt helpless to make change or find support. Eventually, I left the farm and moved to a large city to pursue other areas of life. Living in a major city deepened my understanding of the diversity and uniqueness of different cultures, personal beliefs, and identities. I welcome all abilities, genders, cultural backgrounds, and sexual orientations to my practice. We are all equal in my space.
